Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings Dec. 4 and 5.

Members:

  • Met with representatives from Ollis, Akers & Arney Insurance regarding the county’s liability insurance.
  • Attended a legislative public hearing concerning the National Park Service in Eminence.
  • Reviewed and signed a contract to retain Sean Smith as the county’s representative for a legal matter.
  • Saw a presentation from Janice Weddle and Kyle Wake, MU Extension, on the 2025 proposed budget and programs their office offers.
  • Met with citizens on a senior tax credit issue.
  • Reviewed and acknowledged the “at will status” of Katlyn Fuwell in the collector/treasurer’s office as “no longer needed.”

In other business, commissioners heard from:

  • Shawn Brown, Houston Senior Center, on American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
  • Pat Sheets on the Summersville Senior Center.
  • An individual concerning a ditch cut on a Roubidoux Township Road blocking access to a hay pen.
