The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • A deputy responded to a Lundy Road residence at Houston on Dec. 1 regarding a report of runaway juveniles.

The officer made contact with a 44-year-old woman there who said her 15-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter had run away. She said both children had been diagnosed with multiple mental illnesses, and that she didn’t know of any friends or relatives whose homes they might be at. She also said they had both been reported missing in the past.

The deputy searched the area and spoke to a neighbor man on Arthur Road, but the kids were not located, and the man said he hadn’t seen them. The man did say that he had been awakened at about 6 a.m. to the sound of his vehicle’s door closing, and that he found its glove box open, possibly by the kids rummaging through the vehicle.

Investigation is ongoing.

  • On Nov. 22, a deputy was dispatched regarding a report of a domestic disturbance at a Rusty Road residence at Houston.

The officer made contact with a 60-year-old man and 56-year-old woman there, and the woman told the officer that she and the man had been in a verbal argument, and he had threatened to kill her.

The man told the officer they had argued, but he hadn’t threatened the woman.

The officer advised the pair of the 12-hour rule, and they agreed to separate.

  • On Nov. 17, a deputy investigated a woman’s claims of neighbors acting suspiciously.

The woman wouldn’t answer phone calls from the officer, but the officer received written statements from her. In her messages, the woman (of unreported age) claimed that a neighbor of her Hickory Drive residence at Plato gave her the “middle finger,” and that neighbors take pictures of her while she works in the yard.

  • A 54-year-old Houston man reported on Nov. 27 that several items with a total value of $389 had been stolen from inside his truck at his Iowa Road residence.

The man told an investigating officer he didn’t know who might have swiped the goods but a neighbor had told him that a young female had been observed in the area the previous week during the early morning hours.

Investigation is ongoing.

  • A 39-year-old Summerville man reported on Nov. 28 that a Taurus 9-millimeter pistol had been stolen from his First Street residence. There are no suspects.
