One person is charged following an incident at a Houston pharmacy where he is alleged to have stolen a controlled substance.
A Houston Police Department investigation led to the charges against Eddie L. Watts, born in 1983, of Springfield. Officers said on Wednesday that Watts entered a pharmacy to fill a prescription, once it was filled, he reached across the counter and took the bottle and left the store without paying for hydrocodone with acetaminophen worth $12.60.
Watts was later located at a nearby business sitting in a lobby. Police said they searched Watts and found a pill bottle from the pharmacy prescribed to him.
He was arrested and confessed to grabbing the bottle without paying. He told an officer he had already consumed four pills.
Watts, who is held on $2,500 cash bond, is charged with stealing – controlled substance used in meth manufacturing and receiving stolen property.
Since Dec. 10, Watts has been arrested by the Houston Police Department and the Texas County Sheriff’s Department for property damage. In one incident, he became agitated at a business and threw merchandise on the floor, breaking it, according to a report. In the second case, police said, he broke a telephone in the county jail lobby.
