Rae (Mathis) Reed, age 81, was the daughter of Edward Mathis and Lillian (Sillyman) Binkley. She was born on Nov. 17, 1943, in Houston, Missouri, and passed away on Dec. 8, 2024, at Phelps Health in Rolla, Missouri, while surrounded by her loved ones. 

She married Oscar Reed on Dec. 20, 1961, and to this union, two children were born: Steven and Brian Reed.

Rae is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Don Mathis. 

She is survived by her children, Steven Reed of Licking and Brian (Anita) Reed of Licking. Rae has five grandchildren: Travis (Natasha) Reed of Licking, Whitley (Cory) Hart of Licking, Ryan Reed of Licking, Sara Reed of Rogersville and Brody Reed of Licking; along with eight great-grandchildren; Lilly and Waylon Reed, Adalee, Judd, and Nolan Hart, and Dayton, Skylar, and Elizabeth Reed. She is also survived by one brother, Bill Binkley. 

Rae spent most of her working years at the Public Water Supply District in Licking. She met many people and made many friends during this time. 

Rae was an avid fan of gaming. She loved a good night of bowling or playing bingo with her friends. She was always ready for a fun-filled night at the casino with Verna or Shirley. Although she loved time with her girlfriends, the highlight of her life was her grandkids. Rae loved being “Granny” and spoiling the kids rotten. 

A visitation for Rae will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, at Fox Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, at the Assembly of God Church with Pastor Paul Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Boone Creek Cemetery.
