The Houston R-1 School District board of education made several personnel decisions during a closed session meeting Tuesday, Dec. 10.

The board unanimously approved the resignations of Deborah Dorman, food service, with her last day being Nov. 19; Savanna Wofford, Exceptional Child Cooperative paraprofessional, with her last day being Nov. 19; Julie Allen, elementary art teacher, at the end of the 2024-2025 school year; and Gaylord Ragain, custodian, with his last day being Jan. 20.

Several employments were approved unanimously including: Laura Twyford, food service, for the 2024-2025 school year pending a background check; Robbie Mortensen, middle school head baseball coach, for the 2024-2025 school year pending a background check; Destiny Wallander, assistant scholar bowl coach, for the 2024-2025 school year pending a background check; and Chrystel Michelle Long, paraprofessional, for the 2024-2025 school year pending a background check. 

The employment of Dave Rust as the transportation director was approved in a 6-1 vote. Marty Merckling voted no. 

The board voted unanimously to reimburse the Licking School District as billed for a .5 full-time equivalent for Early Childhood Special Education paraprofessional services.
