In its latest report, the Cabool Police Department listed a range of activities, including traffic stops, arrests and responses to local incidents.
The department reported 20 traffic stops resulting in 10 summons issued. One warrant arrest was made.
On Wednesday, Jan. 1, Victory Thammavongsa, of Houston, was driving a 2019 Toyota was traveling north on U.S. 63 and crossed the center line and struck a horse trailer pulled by a 2007 Chevrolet traveling south on U.S. 63. The Toyota crossed into the southbound lane and was struck by a 2021 Toyota that was traveling south. Both vehicles went off the road and the Toyota overturned. Thammavongsa was pronounced dead at the scene by the Texas County coroner. One occupant of the 2021 Toyota was transported by emergency services with serious injuries.
In total, police handled one accident, two alarms, three animal complaints, three civil matters, one domestic violence call, three juvenile matters, two peace disturbances, one unsecured building incident, assisted other agencies four times and assisted the public five times.
The fire department was dispatched 11 times.
