In its latest report, the Cabool Police Department listed a range of activities, including traffic stops, arrests and responses to local incidents.
The department reported 18 traffic stops resulting in seven summons issued. No warrant arrests were made.
At about 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, an officer was dispatched to a vehicle parked on U.S. 60. The officer arrived at the scene where the sleeping driver woke up and fled in the vehicle. After a short pursuit, the driver was taken into custody. He was identified as Stone Schmidly, of Fredericktown, Missouri, and charged with DWI-first offense and aggravated fleeing a stop or detention. He was transported to the Texas County Jail on a $2,000 cash bond.
In total, police handled three animal complaints, two civil matters, one impaired subject incident, two juvenile matters, one mental instability incident, one peace disturbance, one suspicious activity incident and assisted the public 10 times.
The fire department was dispatched 17 times.
