Sales tax revenue in Texas County, Houston and Cabool declined in December 2024 compared to 2023, according to a recent report. 

HOUSTON

A one-cent sales tax earmarked for parks, police and fire generated $82,114.58 for the month of December. That’s down $709.44 from the same period a year ago.

A one-cent general sales tax totaled $85,502.12. That’s a decrease of $2,597.80 from the same period last year.

Two quarter-cent sales taxes – one for transportation and one for utility work – each totaled $20,535 in the month of December. That’s down $171 from the same period last year.

A use tax applied to online and out-of-state purchases totaled $16,402.32 for the month. That’s up $999.56 from the same period last year.

CABOOL

A one-cent general sales tax totaled $23,434.60. That’s a decrease of $8,611.34 from the same period last year.

A half-cent sales tax for transportation needs totaled $11,717.33 in the month of December. That’s down $4,305.59 from the same period last year.

A use tax applied to online and out-of-state purchases totaled $9,691.74 for the month. That’s up $1,244.84 from the same period last year.

A half-cent sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $11,367.24 for the month.

TEXAS COUNTY

For Texas County, merchants collect three half-cent sales taxes. Each totaled $108,614 for December, which represented a decrease of $15,801 on each from the same period a year ago.

The sales tax on online and out-of-state sales totaled $104,953.76 for the month. That was down $1,842.81 from the same month in 2023.

Revenue from a three-eighths-cent sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $74,116.98, which was down $11,058.61 for the month.
