A just-released U.S. Department of Agriculture report reveals that a Mountain Grove-based dog breeder confined two dogs without water, in violation of federal law.
According to the report, the dogs’ water bowl was “empty and dry.” Once they were given water, both dogs “immediately began to drink vigorously.” One dog drank for at least 90 seconds straight, while the other drank for a minute and then returned to drink for another 30 seconds. The breeder claimed the dogs had tipped the bowl over, but as the federal inspector noted, had not tried to prevent that.
Small and big box chain pet stores alike buy vulnerable living beings from animal factories like this. This neglect is exactly why PETA urges the public never to buy from breeders or pet stores.
If you are ready to welcome a new family member into your home, please adopt an animal.
