The Roby area will hold a fundraiser Feb. 22 for a lifelong community member who held many leadership roles in public safety.
Annette Lane-Monroe is fighting pancreatic cancer. Organizers said she has been a dedicated Roby firefighter, medical first responder, Roby Fire Department board member and fire chief.
The benefit will feature a fish fry at 6 p.m. at the Roby Community Citizens Center on Highway 32 followed by a pitch tournament at 7 p.m. There also will be raffles with all proceeds from the fish fry, raffle and 50 percent of the proceeds from the pitch tournament going to her.
“She has also been a constant source of support for community members in need. Now, it’s our turn to rally together and show Annette the same love and care she has selflessly given others throughout the years,” organizers said in a statement.
A Go Fund Me campaign also has been established to assist: https://gofund.me/6bd9b0b3
