Mo. Sen. Brad Hudson, R-Cape Fair.

The past two weeks have been a whirlwind! From getting sworn in, to attending the inauguration of our new statewide elected officials, we are definitely off to a fast start to the session.

Thank you for putting your faith in me as your new Senator for District 33. This week many of the Senate committees met to hear the first bills of session. This is one of the first steps a bill goes through.

After being filed by a senator, a bill is assigned by the Senate Pro Tem to one of the various committees within the Senate. The committee will then discuss the bill and hold a public hearing where citizens can express whether they are for or against the bill and the reasons why. The committee of senators then discusses and votes on whether the bill should move forward. If it does, it will then be put on the Senate calendar to be discussed on the floor.

My committee assignments include serving as Vice-Chair for the Education Committee, which met this week, and the Government Efficiency committee. I was also given a seat on the Appropriations Committee and the Families, Seniors and Health Committee, which also met this week. I am honored to receive my committee assignments and get to work reviewing bills.

One wonderful opportunity you have is to act as a witness for a bill. If there is any bill I’ve filed that you would like to be a witness for, please contact my office. You can find a list of my bills at senate.mo.gov/Hudson.

I believe there is much I can accomplish on behalf of you, my constituents, and I will work tirelessly to make sure your priorities are my priorities. Together we can work to make Missouri the best state in the nation. If you have any questions or find yourself near the Capitol, my door is always open. It is a pleasure to serve you.

Please feel free to contact my office at 573-751-1882. For information about my committee assignments or sponsored legislation, please visit my official Missouri Senate website at senate.mo.gov/Hudson.
