Billie M. Beck, 88, of Bucyrus passed away on Feb. 24, 2025. Billie was born on May 12, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Henry and Sarah (Hickey) Davy.
Billie grew up in St. Louis but often spent the summers with her aunt and uncle in Dixon, Missouri. Billie married Harold Arrington Beck on April 1, 1956. Though they never had any of their own children, they loved having their niece and nephews around. She worked at the telephone company as an operator and Harold worked for Toledo Scale. Billie’s job allowed her to easily transfer from one place to another when Harold’s job required relocation. Later she obtained her CNA and worked at a convalescent home.
Billie and Harold lived in St. Louis, Louisiana, Corpus Christi, Texas; Florida, Utah, Kansas and California. She lived in California from 1997 to 2005; Harold passed away in 2000, and Billie moved back to the Bucyrus area to be near her family. Billie and Harold loved to go sightseeing on the weekend, they would often go on long drives in the country and take their niece or nephews along for the ride. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles, embroidery, crocheting and classical music. Billie loved genealogy and it was her favorite hobby for years.
Billie was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church in Bucyrus. She was baptized at the church by her brother 10 years ago.
Billie is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Davy and Sarah Glasscock; husband, Harold Beck; and brother, Ronald H. Davy.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Laura Davy of Bucyrus; nephews, Robert Davy and Bill Davy; niece, Barbara Breskin; great nieces and nephews and their wives, Christopher Davy, Gerrod Davy, Miles Davy, Michael Ryken, Joshua Ryken, Brandon Davy and Steven Davy; along with eight great great nieces and nephews.
Billie was Laura’s sidekick. She was always willing to help when needed and ready to go on an adventure. Laura says their family will remember Billie as a very pleasant person, she was never mad, and always good and kind to people.
Per her wishes, Billie will be cremated. A private family service will be held at Wheeler Cemetery in Dixon.
