The Feb. 25 meeting of the Cabool Art Club was held at the Cabool History Museum and hosted by Vicki Woods, Lyn Santa, Felicia Ellis and Pat Caywood.
Sari Wright introduced the winners of the 2025 Middle School Poetry Writing Contest and presented the awards: First place, Mikailynn Carr; second, Adyana Arce; and third, Kenniah Merritt. Art Club members greatly enjoyed hearing the students read their winning compositions. The members were also impressed by the creativity, imagination and skill the students exhibited in expressing their thoughts. Organizers thanked the students for sharing their poems.
Club President Shelley Travis called the meeting to order. Roll call highlighted the beauty of poetry in music as each member shared a favorite love song. Committee reports were given.
It was announced that the 2025 Art Club Scholarship will be open to graduating students living in the Cabool Schools area.
Several club members will attend the Southwest Missouri Museum Associates annual Honors and Extension Luncheon March 26 Â at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield. The theme this year is “Alice in Wonderland.”
The Cabool library branch has invited the club to take part in their summer program.
The meeting adjourned and refreshments were enjoyed by members and guests present: Alex Arce, Marie Beller, Liz Durham, Felicia Ellis, Joyce Jones, Carol Pettijohn, Lyn Santa, Shelley Travis, Kathy Turpin, Gloria White, Vicki Woods and Sari Wright.
The next regularly scheduled meeting is March 18 at the Cabool First Christian Church and will feature a performance by the Cabool High School Music Department.
