The Houston City Council terminated its deputy clerk during a closed session meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 19. 

Sarah Moore, who joined the city in October 2023, was terminated, effective immediately. The decision was unanimous. Ward II Alderman Tim Ceplina was absent from the meeting. 

City officials did not comment on the nature of the termination or the city’s intention to hire new personnel. 

The city employs three clerks – Barbara Rodgers, city clerk; Edwin Graciano, utilities; and Dulcey Spurlin, court/payroll. An administrative assistant is Summer Reed.
