Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings Jan. 29 and 30.
Members:
- Signed and approved road maintenance contracts for Date, Boone, Ozark and Piney Townships.
- Signed and approved a liquor license for Austin Foster dba “Do Drop in Convenience” and for Keith Smith dba “The Resort at Boiling Springs & Canoe Rentals LLC.”
- Reviewed the Texas County Health Department budget for 2025.
- Signed and approved a contract with Ivan Schraeder for legal services for 2025.
- Attended the January township advisory board meeting on Monday, Jan. 27.
- Reviewed and signed an updated support letter for the Cabool YMCA project.
- Attended a retirement celebration for Missy Emerick.
- Presiding Commissioner Scott Long attended a South Central Workforce Investment Board meeting in Winona on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
In other business, commissioners heard from:
- Assessor Debbie James, who discussed a new copier for her office.
- Collector/Treasurer Tammy Cantrell, who requested to move her office upstairs to the second floor.
- Maintenance Supervisor EJ Beckerdite, who informed the commission of issues with the rooftop units at the Texas County Justice Center.
- David Scantlin on townships and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
- Madeline Miller, who reminded the commission about a planning commission meeting on Feb. 10. Miller also discussed Cass Township roads.
- Attorneys on issues in the county.
