The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • On Jan. 31, a deputy responded to a report of a suicidal woman at a Craddock Drive residence at Licking.

The officer made contact with a 48-year-old man and 47-year-old woman who said a 74-year-old woman who is a dementia patient had gone into a nearby wooded area after threatening suicide.

After a search of the woods, the woman was located. She told the deputy she wasn’t suicidal, but had made the statement to the other two people out of anger.

An ambulance crew evaluated the woman and determined she didn’t need to be transported to the hospital.

  • On Jan. 26, a deputy responded to Texas County Memorial Hospital regarding an animal bite.

The officer made contact with a 45-year-old woman there who said she had been bitten by her Great Dane dog after attempting to get it off of her bed. She said the dog was up-to-date on vaccinations.

  • On Feb. 16, a 48-year-old Licking woman reported that she had loaned her 2008 Jeep Liberty to a 27-year-old woman and the vehicle had not been returned.

The woman told an investigating officer that the other woman was supposed to use the vehicle to briefly go into town and access Wi-Fi. The woman said the suspect might be in Moberly, and authorities there were contacted.

A report was sent to the county prosecutor.

  • On. Jan. 18, a 48-year-old man reported a theft at his Highway 32 residence at Licking.

The man told a deputy a bag containing a leather jacket, a rabbit fur jacket and two jean jackets had been stolen from inside a vehicle on his property.

There are no suspects.
