The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • On Jan. 29, a deputy responded to a Flat Rock Road property at Bucyrus regarding a report of trash dumping.

The officer made contact with a neighbor man there who said a 70-year-old man keeps dumping trash and pushing dead trees onto the property. The officer spoke with a 74-year-old woman who owns the property and she said she has told the suspect not to dump trash and stay off of her property in the past.

The deputy went to the Highway M residence where the suspect lives and advised him that the woman wished to pursue trespassing charges against him.

A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking littering and trespassing charges.

  • Jerry L. Hogan, 65, of 10795 Austin Lane at Plato, was arrested Jan. 29 for having an active Texas County warrant for a charge of domestic assault – third degree.

A deputy made the arrest after conducting a traffic stop of a speeding white GMC Terrain on Highway 17 near Dogs Bluff. After the officer made contact with the driver – Hogan – a computer check revealed the warrant. He was taken to the Texas County Jail with a cash-only bond set at $2,000.

  • A deputy was dispatched Jan. 29 regarding a report of a UTV blocking the entrance to a Highway Z residence at Houston.

Upon arrival, the officer didn’t observe a UTV blocking the entrance to the residence. Contact was made with a 37-year-old woman there who said she had video of a 40-year-old neighbor man blocking the entrance. The officer viewed the video but was unable to clearly see the UTV blocking the woman’s driveway due to how far away it had been recorded from.

The officer contacted the suspect by phone, and he said he had not blocked the entrance to the home, but had parked his UTV across the easement, directly across from the entrance to the woman’s property. He told the officer he had a tree trimming company working on his property and the woman’s husband had been harassing them, and that he had a video depicting that.

Law enforcement had reportedly responded to the same location for the same reason two days earlier.
