The Houston High School girls basketball team was no match for Thayer in a 72-23 defeat in Tiger Fieldhouse on Monday.
The Lady Bobcats were never in trouble, leading 22-2 at the end of the first quarter and holding a 22-point margin at halftime. Freshman Ryleigh Davis was prolific in the first half, scoring 20 points.
Davis finished the game with 26 points. Junior Kadyn Hilles added 18 points and senior Abby Bowers had 15 points and the game’s only 3-pointer.
“We lost to a great team who is now 4-0 in conference,” said HHS head coach Micah Lee. “Now we have to prepare for our match against Liberty on Thursday.”
For Houston, junior forward Gracyn McNiell led the team with 10 points and senior forward Lacey Cavaness added 6.
Thayer shot 7-for-9 from the free-throw line. Houston shot 3-for-6.
The Lady Tigers (5-12; 1-2 SCA) host Liberty on Thursday (Feb. 6).
