The Houston R-1 School District Board of Education handled several personnel matters during closed session meetings on Feb. 11 and 13.
Administrator contracts for Jody Jarrett, elementary principal; Tracy Hughes, middle school principal; and Eric Sloan, high school assistant principal; were extended through the 2026-2027 school year unanimously.
The contract for Amanda Munson, high school principal, was extended through the 2026-2027 school year in a 6-1 vote. Marty Merckling voted no.
The board approved the resignation of Gracie Alexander, paraprofessional, effective Jan. 27. The retirement/resignation of Jim Moore, elementary assistant principal, effective at the end of the 2025-2026 school year (May 29, 2026), was approved.
The employment of Kayla Cooper, Cheryl Kidwell and Samantha Parle as paraprofessionals was approved, pending background checks.
The employment of Justin Brown, as middle school assistant track coach for the 2024-2025 school year, was approved.
Certified evaluations, extra duty evaluations and director evaluations were discussed with the board.
