A Wright County accident on Thursday afternoon claimed a Mansfield man, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

The 28-year-old man was the driver of a northbound 1984 GMC pickup that ran off the right side of Highway EE three miles northwest of Mansfield, said Msgt. Justin Piccinino. It struck a mailbox,  skidded, overturned and struck a fence.

Two passengers — ages 20 and 23 of Springfield — were seriously injured and transported by air and ambulance, respectively, to Cox South in Springfield.

The patrol said the truck was totaled in the 3:20 p.m. accident.

It was the sixth fatality in the nine-county area of Troop G for 2025. At the same time a year ago, it was one.
