Deputy’s report: Break-in reported at vacant home

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

• On March 6, a 26-year-old Houston man reported that his mother’s credit card had been stolen and used by a 63-year-old relative.

The man said the relative was living at his Ingram Drive residence and had swiped several items from the property and pawned them. He said the suspect would also steal his mother’s prescription drugs and scrap metal from the property.

• On March 6, a deputy was dispatched regarding a report of a domestic incident at a Dogwood Road residence at Mountain Grove.

The officer made contact with a 35-year-old woman there who said a 29-year-old man had hit her several times and thrown her down. No contact was made with the suspect.

The deputy reported not observing any marks or bruising on the woman.

• A 62-year-old Solo man reported on March 27 that two nail guns and a chainsaw had been stolen from his Bennett Road residence.

• On March 20, deputies were dispatched regarding a report of a break-in at a Country Aire Lane residence at Mountain Grove.

Upon arrival, officers observed that a screen door on the front of the home was swinging open and appeared to be damaged. Closer examination revealed that the screen door had been broken apart and the main door had been kicked in.

Officers announced their presence, but nobody appeared to be inside. The interior was cluttered, so it wasn’t possible to determine if someone had gone through it.

A 55-year-old woman was identified as the homeowner. She was contacted by phone and said she was out of town. When she returned, she contacted officers and said someone else had been living in her home and had trashed it. She also said nothing appeared to be missing.
