Deputy’s report: Stolen vehicle investigation underway

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

• On March 1, a deputy was dispatched to Hidden Valley Drive at Mountain Grove regarding a report of a stolen vehicle.

Prior to arriving, the officer was advised by dispatch that a BMW matching the description of the vehicle had been involved in a crash on Highway AM at Mountain Grove. When the deputy arrived at the location of the crash, the car was observed on the shoulder with all its air bags deployed.

The officer then made contact at Hidden Valley Drive with the man who had been driving the car. He said he and another man had parked his daughter’s car on Hidden Valley Drive to hunt for morel mushrooms, and when they returned it was gone. The man said he didn’t know who might have taken the vehicle.

The officer noted that there were no tire marks where the man said the car had been parked on Hidden Valley Drive. The officer also noted that the car was oriented on Highway AM in the direction of Hidden Valley Drive.

The car was towed from the scene.

• Lydia M. Beyer, 29, of 20118 Wildwood Drive in Raymondville, was arrested Feb. 27 for having an active Texas County warrant for a forgery charge.

A deputy made the arrest after conducting a traffic stop of a vehicle with expired registration. After the officer made contact with the driver, Beyer, a computer check revealed the warrant. She was taken to jail and the car was left in the custody of a 38-year-old man who was a passenger inside.

• A 54-year-old Cabool man reported the theft of a vehicle and its title on Feb. 8.

The man told an investigating deputy that he had purchased a 2012 Ford Fusion in November of 2024, and had placed its title in his other vehicle, a pickup truck. He said his former girlfriend, a 38-year-old Cabool woman, had removed the title from the truck and taken the car without permission.

Investigation is ongoing.
