OUTAGES FIXED QUICKLY
By 6:11 p.m. there were only 10 electrical outages reported in the county following high winds that whipped through the area.
WIND ADVISORY REMAINS UNTIL 8 P.M.
A National Weather Service Wind Advisory continues until 8 this evening. Light rain showers will transition to light snow this evening. No accumulations are expected. Elevated fire danger is expected on Thursday, while significant fire danger returns on Friday as winds increase again.
FIRE DECLARED CONTAINED
At 3:45 p.m. the fire east of Mason Bridge โ in an area around Highway N and Boone Creek Road โ was declared contained. Some work is occurring around the borders.
OUTAGES NUMBER INCREASES
At 3:38 p.m., there were 899 rural electrical outages in Texas County. They are scattered throughout the county.
NOTIFICATIONS MADE; FIRE UNCONTAINED
Authorities reported at 3 p.m. that evacuation notifications have been completed; the blaze is not contained.
ROBY FIRE DEPARTMENT ISSUES ADVISORY
From the Roby department: “We were just told there’s power out in Roby. If you live close to any power lines, look and see if there’s any smoke in the area. And always assume the power line is hot.”
POWER OUTAGES INCREASE
At 2:26 p.m., there were 850 in rural Texas County without power; 510 of those are in the Roby area.
EVACUATIONS BEGIN
At 2:20 p.m. – Evacuations are underway on Boone Creek Road west of Licking.
NATURAL COVER FIRE EXPANDS; POWER OUTAGES
The Licking Fire Department just before 2 p.m. Wednesday was calling for an evacuation of people west of Licking on Highway 32.
The natural cover blaze was said to be moving east rapidly.
The Texas County Sheriffโs Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol were called to start making contact with homeowners. The area is west of Licking near the area of Highway N, authorities said.
There is a high risk of fire danger today. Electrical outages also are being reported. At 2:08 p.m., there were about 300 without power in rural parts of the county.
