Two school records were set as the Houston High School boys and girls track and field teams kicked off the 2025 season last Friday at the annual Osage Open in Osage Beach.
Both marks were set by Lady Tigers, as junior Kayla Wagner won the triple jump with a leap of 9.96 meters and topped the former record of 9.78 meters set by Jaydin Ramsey, while sophomore Adyson Dailing won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.87 seconds, beating her own record of 50.53. Dailing posted a hurdles sweep by also taking first in the 100-meter race.

HHS junior Kynlee Weaver picked up where she left off last year by winning the javelin.
There were 11 teams in attendance at the meet.
“It was a very good field for both teams,” said HHS head coach Mike Tottingham. “The girls did an amazing job and have a chance to have a very special season. This is the best girls team I have ever coached and they might end up being the best team I have had – boys or girls. Our boys are young but had a nice showing considering how inexperienced they are.”
Houston athletes turned in numerous top-5 finishes in the event.
