Intercounty Electric Cooperative Association made significant progress over the weekend after an EF-2 tornado ripped through Phelps County.

At about 6:10 a.m. Monday, there were 895 without power of its 10,185 customers in Phelps County.

Other cooperatives pitched in to assist Intercounty on Sunday, including: Three Rivers Electric Cooperative, Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative and North Central Missouri Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Rolla Municipal Utilities — serving homes within the city limits — had 637 without power early Monday.

Tornado survivors needing assistance can visit the Rolla First Baptist Church at 801 N. Cedar St. for shelter and aid. Among the organizations providing assistance there is the Salvation Army. Based on briefings with local authorities, the Salvation Army reports an estimated 30-40 homes were completely destroyed in the Rolla area by the tornado and an additional 150 homes sustained major damage and cannot currently be occupied.
