This area’s rural electric cooperative is making good progress in restoring power to tornado-torn Phelps County.

By Wednesday morning at 6:20, there were only 242 remaining without electricity from Intercounty Electric Cooperative. That’s just about 2 percent of its customers.

A tornado ripped through the county on Friday evening. Luckily, there was no loss of life, but damage is extensive. A man and his dog later perished in an apparent accidental carbon monoxide poisoning from a generator.
