Several personnel decisions were made during a closed session meeting of the Houston R-1 School District Board of Education on Tuesday (March 11). 

The board unanimously approved the following resignations: 

  • Jeff McNiell as graphic arts occupations teacher, district communications director and postsecondary adviser, at the end of the 2024-’25 school year. 
  • Tyann Nettleton as speech-language pathologist at the Exceptional Child Cooperative (ECC), at the end of the 2024-’25 school year. 
  • Sierra Keller as certified occupational therapy assistant, at the end of the 2024-’25 school year. 
  • Stephanie Barbagiovanni as curriculum, instruction and assessment director, at the end of the 2024-’25 school year. 
  • Joshua Kane as elementary teacher, at the end of the 2024-’25 school year. 
  • Jillian Adey as elementary teacher, at the end of the 2024-’25 school year. 
  • Sam VanDielen as band director, at the end of the 2024-’25 school year. 

The board unanimously approved the employment of Kailie Kinder as speech-language pathologist at the ECC, for the 2025-’26 school year, and Dustin Altom as a middle school baseball volunteer. 

The tenure list and certified contracts for the 2025-’26 school year were approved as presented. Noncertified and extra duty evaluations were discussed. 

Director contracts were approved unanimously for: 

  • Samantha Courter, special education process coordinator
  • Donna Crisp, food services director
  • Kelsen Gilbert, technology director/systems coordinator
  • Brent Hall, athletic director
  • Jennifer Johnson, exceptional child cooperative director
  • Dave Rust, maintenance and transportation director
