A Summersville man died Friday night from injuries received in an accident early Wednesday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
According to the patrol, the man’s vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the left side of Highway 17, struck a sign and was ejected.
Tpr. J.M. Kenyon said the 44-year-old driver of the northbound 2017 Canam Spyder was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, where he died. Next of kin has been notified.
The vehicle was totaled. The driver was not wearing a helmet in the 12:45 a.m. accident about five miles north of Mountain View.
It was the troop’s eighth fatality of the year compared to two at the same time a year ago.
The patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in accidents because it says the information could be used in scams.
