Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings April 16 and 17

Members:

  • Appointed Karen Smith as Cass Township clerk.
  • Reviewed and approved a Senior Tax Credit application. The form will be available May 1 at the county clerk’s office or on the county’s website. Applications must be returned to the clerk’s office no later than June 15, 2025.
  • Discussed police academy training conducted by area law enforcement.
  • Reviewed and acknowledged the resignation of Starlene Evilsizer, of the collector/treasurer’s office, effective April 10.
  • Acknowledged and approved the transfer of $5,829.54 to the elections fund for the county’s portion of the April 8 municipal election.

In other business, commissioners heard from:

  • Diane Beers spoke with the commission about the meeting room in the administrative building.
  • David Scantlin discussed townships and Federal and State Emergency Management Agencies.
  • Kirk Barnes, via phone call, concerning Cantrell Road in Lynch Township.
  • An individual concerning Parker Road.
  • Cheryl Thurman, Sweetwater Network, concerning opioid funds.
