Firefighters from several departments helped contain a natural cover fire Monday on Highway AH in western Texas County.

Trent Packer, Roby Fire Department deputy chief, said it responded to help Plato Fire Department on the 30-40 acres affected. Firefighters battled it for several hours. Volunteers were told the blaze started at about 10 p.m. Sunday.

Several departments joined to help Roby and Plato — the Houston Rural Fire Department, Mountain Grove, Missouri Department of Conservation and U.S. Forest Service.

It was contained at about 7:15 p.m.
