After scoring 2 runs in the fifth inning to tie the game, the Houston High School baseball team lost in eight innings to Seymour on Monday.

Junior Aaden Scantlin pitched well for the Tigers, facing 28 batters and only allowing 4 hits. In the eighth inning – with the game tied at two – Scantlin let up a leadoff double, and was pulled from the game.

Senior Shaun Buck came in relief and got two quick outs, but a passed ball with the runner on third would give Seymour a 3-2 victory.

“Aaden Scantlin pitched a great game for us and deserved to get the win,” said HHS head coach Brent Hall. “We played better as a whole and we didn’t have as many errors as in games past, but still had a few mistakes that were costly. If we can play this way day in and day out, we will be competitive and have a chance to win more games as the season goes on.”

Neither team managed much offense in the game, with both producing 4 hits. Houston batters drew 6 walks and were strikeout victims 12 times.

Houston (2-6) was scheduled to play its first South Central Association conference game against Liberty (Mountain View) on Tuesday (April 1) and faces SCA opponent Willow Springs on Monday (April 7).
