Thayer 10, Houston 4
After two competitive innings, the Houston High School baseball team fell 10-4 to Thayer on Thursday (April 17).
Down 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, senior Shaun Buck blasted an RBI double to center field to tie the game. Sophomore Ethan Carter singled in the next at bat, scoring Buck and senior Caiden Root.
After junior Aaden Scantlin allowed 3 more runs in the second innings, the Tigers would manage to score 1 in the bottom of the inning to enter the third tied at 4.
But, with two outs in the top of the third inning, Thayer managed to score 5 runs on a pair of errors and base hits to lead 9-4.
The Bobcats would add another run in the sixth inning on their way to a 10-4 victory.
“We still gave up way too many free bases with walks, hit by pitches and errors,” said HHS head coach Brent Hall. “But, I felt like we competed hard throughout the game and our mentality throughout the game was much better – which is something we can possibly hope to build on.”
