In the first home match of the season, the Houston High School tennis team was defeated by Salem on Tuesday, 7-2.

HHS senior Connor McKinney serves Tuesday against Salem. McKinney got his first singles victory of the season in the match.

The Tennis Tigers won once in singles and once in doubles, as senior Connor McKinney took the No. 1 singles match 8-5 and the duo of juniors Caleb McGiboney and Maggie Wolfe prevailed in No. 2 doubles, 9-7.

In other doubles play, McKinney and junior Jack Sandberg fell 8-3 in the No. 1 match and the team of juniors Gavin Altman and Riley Wilson lost 8-2.

In the other singles competition, Sandberg was blanked 8-0 in the No. 2 match, McGiboney fell 8-6 in the No. 3 match, Wolfe had to sit out in the No. 4 match due to an ailment and Salem took an 8-0 walkover, Altman was shut out 8-0 in the No. 5 match and Wilson was defeated 8-4 in the No. 6 match.

The Tennis Tigers are scheduled to travel to Salem on Thursday for a three-way match including Willow Springs and then play again Monday (April 7) at Mountain Grove.
