The Texas County Sheriff’s Department is warning about a scam being reported in the area.

“Just a reminder that we will never call someone on the phone and demand payment for an arrest warrant. Even if the caller identifies as the name of an actual deputy or spoofs the sheriff’s office phone number do not be fooled, this is not how law enforcement conducts business,” warns the department. “We had multiple reports of this scam recently. If you have any questions about the validity of a caller identifying as law enforcement, hang up and call 911.”
