Flooding in West Plains claimed a second life Friday night, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said a 45-year-old West Plains man drowned while attempting to cross a low-water slab on Mustion Creek inside the West Plains city limits near Ramseur Road. Due to flooding, the vehicle was swept off the roadway into the nearby creek. Troopers said the driver exited the vehicle and drowned.

He was pronounced deceased by the acting Howell County coroner on Sunday afternoon.
