Hosted by local veterans organizations including American Legion Post 41 in Houston and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 473 in Licking, the fourth annual Armed Forces Appreciation Day took place last Saturday at the Intercounty Electric Cooperative auditorium in Licking.

The event was attended by hundreds of U.S. military veterans and their family members, and featured displays and personnel from several agencies and organizations offering information and assistance.

A free meal was served and there were multiple giveaways and raffles. Dozens of businesses, organizations and individuals helped sponsor the event with financial donations.

The event annually takes place on national Armed Forces Day, which falls on the third Saturday in May.
