The legislature gave final approval May 12 for a bill naming Emmett Kelly Day in Missouri.
The last Saturday in April of each year is designated as “Emmett Kelly Day” in Missouri. “The citizens of this state are encouraged to honor the life of Emmett Kelly, who was a famous circus performer, also known as Weary Willie, from Houston, Missouri” reads the bill.
Missouri’s Senate passed the bill by accepting additional designations made by the House. It awaits Gov. Mike Kehoe’s signature.
