The Texas County Sheriff's Department was called to handle a variety of investigations.

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • On May 17, a deputy was dispatched regarding a domestic disturbance involving a 54-year-old woman and 52-year-old man at an Airport Road residence at Cabool.

The officer made contact with the woman, who said she attempted to wake the man up from a nap so he could see his probation officer, and he then threatened to burn the house down with her in it.

The officer spoke with the man, and he reportedly said he just wanted to sleep. The man was arrested and secured in the deputy’s patrol vehicle, and he then threatened to kill himself.

Paperwork was competed for a 96-hour evaluation on the man.

  • A deputy was dispatched to Texas County Memorial Hospital on April 26 regarding a report of an animal bite.

The officer made contact with a 19-year-old woman there who said her pet guinea pig had bitten her. She said it was vaccinated. The officer advised her to quarantine the animal for 10 days and report any concerns to the Texas County Health Department.

  • On May 18, a deputy was dispatched to the Cabool Police Department regarding a report of theft.

The officer made contact with a 29-year-old woman there who said she let a 35-year-old man borrow her HP laptop computer and he was refusing to return it. The woman showed the officer the original packaging for the laptop which included its serial number.

The deputy went to the man’s Route 181 residence, and he said he had bought the computer from the woman for $50, but he wished for officers to give it to her because he didn’t want any further issues.

The serial number of the unit matched the one the woman provided. The computer was reset to factory settings and returned to the woman.

  • At about 7:50 p.m. May 22, a deputy was dispatched regarding a domestic dispute involving a 41-year-old man and 35-year-old woman at a Route 32 residence near Licking.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the woman, and she said the man had threatened to kill her and she wanted him trespassed from the property. She said he came to her house to get clothing but had used the same excuse in the past and has no belongings there.

A Licking police officer located the man, and the deputy went to the location where he was found. The man reportedly showed the deputy text messages from the woman stating she had his belongings and if he wanted them, he should come over and get them. She also indicated she had dropped off some of his things at an unspecified location.

The man told the deputy he hadn’t threatened the woman, but she had gotten loud with him, so he left.

The officer went back to the woman’s house, and she advised she had dropped off some of the man’s belongings near the rodeo grounds in Licking, where he had been staying. The officer advised the man of where he could find the items.

The man and woman were advised of the 12-hour rule and told that one or both of them would go to jail if they had to be dealt with again.
