Heavy rain contributed to an accident Wednesday night about two miles east of Cabool on U.S. 60, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Cpl. Travis Brown said a westbound 2015 Chevrolet Captiva operated by a 28-year-old woman from Kirbyville had stopped on the shoulder due to heavy rain. A westbound 2010 Nissan Titan driven by a 55-year-old Poplar Bluff man lost control on the wet roadway and skidded into the side of the Captiva, he said.

Both drivers were taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Both vehicles had extensive damage following the 6:05 p.m. accident. The Captiva driver was not wearing a seat belt; the other was.

Assisting at the scene were Cpl. Michael Weakley and Tpr. Jason Sentman.
