A Houston man faces multiple felony charges after allegedly threatening a woman with a kitchen knife during an incident the morning of May 13.
Eric S. Caswell, 37, of Grand Avenue in Houston, is charged with kidnapping – second degree (a class D felony), unlawful use of a weapon (a class E felony) and domestic assault – fourth degree (a misdemeanor).
According to a report, a Houston Police Department officer responded to the Piney Inn on Grand Avenue at about 8 a.m. regarding a domestic incident in progress. The officer made contact with a woman there who said Caswell had threatened her with a knife and wouldn’t let her leave her apartment.
The officer then contacted Caswell at his apartment, and he denied having a knife or threatening the woman. He also reported the woman had slapped him over an issue about cereal.
The officer reported observing no markings on Caswell’s head or face.
More information was then obtained from the alleged victim, who said Caswell had been hitting his head against a cabinet and then grabbed a large kitchen knife and threatened to kill her. The woman then said Caswell also threatened to kill himself if she left.
The officer reportedly placed Caswell in hand restraints, and he admitted to having the knife. His behavior then became problematic, as he was dry heaving, forcing himself to vomit and lying on the ground acting as if he had multiple seizures.
The knife (with a wrist strap) was located under a pillow. Its blade was reportedly nine inches long.
Cash-only bond in the case is set at $2,000. As of Thursday (May 15), Caswell was not in custody.

I hope this finds somebody that can help the poor man not just punishing for things that sometimes aren’t always in his control!!!
I know this man and he suffered from schizophrenia and when he’s not on his medication, he can’t act really obnoxious and crazy. He should really be medicated and supervise by doctor at all times until he is over his schizophrenia episode. He shouldn’t be locked up in a jail cell. Justified demons that he has no control over. I’ve known him for many years. His mom used to have to call me from 3 miles down the road to come up to his home and calm him down because he would have an episode that was uncontrollable and she didn’t wanna call the cops to have him arrested, thrown in a jail cell and left to pretend to his own demons that he couldn’t help. If he is medicated properly and is able to afford his meds, he will take them properly for the most part but this is the fine example of people that need help not just thrown in a cell and forgotten about. I pray that he gets to help he needs, and these officers realize that he isn’t Faking his seizures. because they are real. 100% real they are not fake. He has a long medical history along with his criminal history which could’ve been avoided many times. Had he had the right medication in the right help. no I’m not saying that he doesn’t need to be punished if he harmed somebody. I’m just saying before you put him on trial or deny that he has problems and that he has seizures and play it off like they’re not real maybe get him evaluated by a psychiatrist and a doctor that would probably be more help than locking him up I’m sure he needs locked up too because he’s not a perfect man and he has a history, but let’s make sure he’s gonna survive it first just an opinion from somebody that has been in the system and knows that once you’re behind those Locked up doors, Texas County don’t really help you even if you die right there they could give a crap less as long as they get their paycheck they’re good so many people need medical attention back there in the back and nobody ever listens to him or believe him and this man here has been locked up many times I have suffered behind those walls and no one ever care to help you. The sad part is that I’m not even family and I’m not even his friend and I know things about him because I listen and I pay attention and I’ve done my research. It used to be his mother that took care of him and helping get through things but from what I understand, she’s no longer with us.
