​​The following are excerpts from reports recently generated by the Houston Police Department:

Between May 12 and 18, the Houston Police Department answered 200 calls for service and initiated 25 traffic stops, resulting in 16 citations and 25 warnings.

  • On May 12, officers were informed of a potential child abuse. A 26-year-old suspect has been identified. This investigation is ongoing. 
  • On May 13, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of South Grand Avenue for a domestic incident. Upon arrival, it was found that Eric Caswell, age 37, had threatened a 54-year-old female with a knife and refused to allow her to leave the residence. Caswell was taken into custody and transported to the Texas County Jail. The Texas County prosecutor charged Caswell with second-degree kidnapping, unlawful use of a weapon and fourth-degree domestic assault. Caswell was issued a $2,000 cash-only bond. 
  • On May 13, officers were dispatched to U.S. 63 and Route 17 for a motor vehicle crash. Following an investigation, it was found that a 44-year-old male who was operating a 2000 Freightliner struck an embankment. No injuries were reported. The driver, Steven Wolford of Winamac, Indiana, was cited for no insurance. 
  • On May 13, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of King Street for a domestic dispute. Following the investigation, it was found that there was a verbal altercation between a 21-year-old female and a 16-year-old female. Both parties separated for the evening. 
  • On May 14, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of South Sam Houston Boulevard for the report of a domestic dispute. Following the investigation, it was found that an 18-year-old female and an 18-year-old male had been in a verbal altercation. Both parties separated for the evening. 
  • On May 14, an officer arrested Debra Ellison, age 61, of Houston, on two Texas County warrants per charges of second-degree burglary and stealing. Ellison was incarcerated in the Texas County Jail with a total cash bond of $2,000. 
  • On May 14, officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on U.S. 63 near Cleveland Road. Following the investigation, it was found that Shaun Kirkwood, age 43, of Houston, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Impala north on U.S. 63 when he struck a 2014 Ford Escape in the rear. The driver of the Ford Escape was transported to Texas County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Kirkwood was cited for following too close resulting in an accident. 
  • On May 15, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Erich Houston, age 28, of Edgar Springs. Houston was found to have four active Houston Municipal warrants per charges of no valid driver’s license, no insurance, operating ATV on roadway and failing to obey, with a total bond of $410 cash or surety. Houston was placed under arrest and transported to Texas County Jail. He was also issued citations per charges of no valid driver’s license and no insurance. 
  • On May 15, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a 36-year-old male. During the stop, it was found that the driver of the vehicle was impaired and had his children in the vehicle. The male was arrested and transported to Texas County Jail. A report will be sent to the Texas County prosecutor for formal charges of driving while intoxicated, no insurance, failure to register and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
  • On May 15, officers were dispatched to the intersection of U.S. 63 and Route 17 for a motor vehicle crash. Following an investigation, it was found that Ansel Howard, age 41, of Salem, was operating a 2005 Mack semi north on U.S. 63 and attempted to turn left onto Route 17 at a high rate of speed, causing his vehicle to turn over. Howard was cited for careless and imprudent driving. 
  • On May 16, officers arrested Steven Parker, age 40, on a Texas County warrant per charges of possession of a controlled substance and driving while revoked, as well as a Pulaski County warrant per charge of driving while revoked. Parker was incarcerated in Texas County Jail. 
  • On May 18, officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Dewey Street for a domestic dispute. Following the investigation, it was found that there was a verbal altercation between a 22-year-old male and a 20-year-old female. Both parties agreed to separate for the evening. 
  • On May 18, officers responded to the 400 block of North Grand Avenue for a report of a theft. It was found that the victim’s debit card had been used multiple times without his permission. This investigation is ongoing. 
  • On May 18, officers were called to the 1400 block of South Sam Houston Boulevard for a theft. The suspect was identified as Damien Carr, age 19, of Houston. Carr was arrested and cited for stealing under $750.
