A California man was arrested Thursday in Texas County following a Texas County Sheriff’s Department investigation.

Marvis Jackson Jr., born in 1992 and a resident of Fairfield, California, was arrested after it was determined he was a felon in possession of a firearm. A computer check showed he was convicted of armed robbery in California in 2016. An examination of the vehicle also found a smoking device containing a white residue on the driver’s side floorboard, according to reporting.

A field test was positive for methamphetamines. According to the report, Jackson had denied having anything illegal in the vehicle.

He is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a controlled substance. He is in the Texas County Jail. Bond is set at $5,000 cash.

The investigation was launched following a report of a suspicious vehicle.
