Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said a Salem man died Wednesday afternoon after his vehicle struck the south side of Round Spring Bridge in Shannon County.
Tpr. Sarah Swink said the northbound 2008 Toyota Yaris was operated by a 64-year-old driver, who was pronounced deceased at the scene at 4:25 p.m. by Shannon County Coroner Allen Ford. Next of kin has been notified.
The vehicle was totaled in the crash on Route 19 about 17 miles north of Eminence. The driver was not wearing a seat belt.
It is the 12th fatality this year in Troop G as compared to seven in the same period last year.
Among those on the scene were MSgt. Christopher A. Kimes, Mercy EMS and the U.S. Forest Service.
