The Ozark Mountain Amateur Radio Club will participate in the 2025 Annual AARL Field Day on June 28.

This is a live event and will be located on the grounds of the former Pizza Express (1415 S. Sam Huston Blvd.) in Houston. This learning event starts at 1 p.m. and local Ham Radio operators will set up radios and portable antennas as preparation for transmitting emergency communications in the event of the power going down or a larger grid failure.

Field Day is ham radio’s open house. Every June, more than 31,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to communities and the nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio.

The public is welcome to come learn about ham radio. Assistance in receiving a Ham license is available. For questions or more information, call OMARC President Willy Adey at 417-260-4626 or email n0tpe80@gmail.com.
