The Houston R-1 School District board of education made several personnel decisions during a closed session meeting on Tuesday, May 27. 

The following resignations were approved unanimously: 

  • Jody Miller, paraprofessional and substitute nurse, at the end of the 2024-’25 school year. 
  • Alexis Hunter, paraprofessional, at the end of the 2024-’25 school year. 
  • Cason Popham, archery instructor, at the end of the 2024-’25 school year. 

The following employments were approved unanimously: 

  • Tina Cox, as elementary teacher, for the 2025-’26 school year, pending a background check. 
  • Jason Holladay, as elementary special education teacher, for the 2025-’26 school year, pending a background check. 
  • Dara Jackson, as CRT trainer at the Exceptional Child Cooperative, for the 2025-’26 school year. 
  • Jamie Taylor, as Houston Alternative Learning Opportunities (HALO) paraprofessional, for the 2025-’26 school year, pending a background check. 
  • Brandon Miller, as paraprofessional, for the 2025-’26 school year, pending a background check. 
  • Shane Pitts, as elementary assistant principal, for the 2025-’26 school year, pending a background check. 
  • Misty Carr, as paraprofessional, for the 2025-’26 school year, pending a background check. 

Board member Jeff Gettys was absent from the meeting.
