An 11-year-old boy was injured Friday afternoon in a U.S. 60 accident that was attributed to heavy rainfall, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

An eastbound 2019 GMC Acadia hydroplaned, ran off the right side of the highway and struck a tree east of Norwood.

The boy, who had minor injuries, was treated by ambulance personnel. He was wearing a seat belt.

The 18-year-old driver from West Memphis, Arkansas, was uninjured. He also was wearing a seat belt.

The vehicle was totaled.
