In a closed session meeting of the Houston City Council Monday, June 2, an economic developer/assistant administrator was hired.
The employment of Travis Witzemann was approved by the council in a 3-1-1 vote, with Ward III Alderman Don Romines voting no, Ward II Alderwoman Ann Tottingham abstaining and Ward I Alderman Adam Vandiver absent.
“I want to welcome Travis to our team here at the City of Houston,” said Mayor Sam Kelley. “We are excited to see what ideals he has to help us.”
The previous economic developer, Kevin Buck, resigned in February, after beginning the role in October 2023.
Witzemann begins duties Monday, June 9. The Houston Herald will do an in-depth feature story on Witzemann in the coming weeks.
