Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings June 18 and 19.

Members:

  • Met with Kayce Smith, BPJ Insurance, about the county’s liability insurance.
  • Met with auditors from McBride and Lock for an exit interview pertaining to an audit that was completed on county financials.
  • Travis Witzemann, Houston economic developer, introduced himself and discussed development plans and projects.
  • The commissioners did an annual inspection of the justice center.
  • Acknowledged and reviewed a request from Debbie James, assessor, to remove Shannon Harris from her payroll effective June 24. Harris will transfer to the collector’s office. James spoke to the commission about a new program for her office to help with a new tax credit.

In other business, commissioners heard from:

  • David Scantlin with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and county township road updates.
  • Several citizens with questions on the Senior Tax Credit.
  • An individual concerning the public administrator’s office.
