The Texas County Sheriff's Department was called to handle a variety of investigations.

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • On June 23, a deputy was dispatched to an Evans Road residence at Yukon regarding identity theft.

A 65-year-old woman there told the officer she had logged into her Facebook account and seen a message indicating her account was being deactivated. She called a phone number she was advised to call and provided her social security number and paid $2,000.

The woman was provided an identity theft packet to fill out and return to the Attorney General’s office.

  • At about 11:30 p.m. June 28, deputies were dispatched to a Highway N residence near Licking regarding a domestic disturbance possibly involving a handgun.

The officer made contact with a 24-year-old man there who said a 45-year-old man had pointed a pistol at him during a disagreement.

After speaking with several people at the location, the deputy determined that no gun had been involved, and the younger man was the aggressor in the argument. He was taken into custody pending an assault charge.

  • At about 2 a.m. June 27, deputies were dispatched to a Timber Hill Road residence at Raymondville regarding a report of theft.

A 45-year-old man there told the officer that several items had been stolen with a total value of $4,597 (including a set of Rigid off-road lights worth $2,700 and Rigid bumper lights worth $1,600).

  • At about 12:19 a.m. June 21, a deputy was notified by dispatch that a woman wanted to meet at the jail to report her aunt and aunt’s friend missing.

The officer made contact with the woman in the jail parking lot, and she said the two missing women had gone on a float trip from Dogs Bluff to Mineral Spring and had asked her to pick them up at Mineral Spring about an hour before she called 911.

The woman said when the pair didn’t arrive, she honked her vehicle’s horn and flashed the headlights, but to no avail. The officer and the woman went back to the Mineral Spring access, and the woman then received a text from her aunt indicating they were on the riverbank, and they thought they had gone past Mineral Spring.

But when dispatch pinged the aunt’s phone, the location was a property on Westwood Drive near Houston.

The officer went to the address and contacted the man who lives there, and he agreed to take the officer to the river. The officer and the man drove as far as possible and then walked the rest of the way to the river.

The two missing women were located at about 2:26 a.m., and the two men escorted them back to the officer’s patrol car. The women said they didn’t need any medical attention and were just cold and hungry.

The officer dropped the man off at his house, thanked him, and then returned to the jail parking lot to meet the woman who reported the incident.
