The Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Independence Day parade scheduled for Saturday has been canceled.

The event – which was planned to begin at 6 p.m. in downtown Houston – will not be rescheduled, organizers said.

The American Legion Post 41 will not give out free “Freedom Dogs” (hot dogs) on Saturday.

According to city officials, a firework show at the Houston Memorial Airport will still take place around 9 p.m.
